The easy way to determine the direction of cylinder rotation is to examine the cylinder stop notches. The cylinder stop notches are machined grooves, the shape of which resembles an arrowhead, found on the surface of the cylinder near its rear edge. The “tip” of the arrowhead points in the direction the cylinder rotates. Thus, by observing the cylinder stop notches, you will know which way the cylinder will turn when the revolver is cocked.
